OUR HISTORY
Each cuvée from Maison Frerejean Frères tells a unique story, shaped by the dual heritage that Guillaume and Rodolphe Frerejean Taittinger passionately carry forward.
From their mother, descended from the prestigious Taittinger lineage, they inherited the craft of winemaking and a deep connection to the Champagne terroir. From their father, a native of Burgundy, they gained the boldness and entrepreneurial spirit of a renowned family of blacksmiths, the Frerejean brothers.
At the crossroads of these two legacies, Guillaume and Rodolphe represent a new generation of winemakers, proud to honor their family heritage. Each cuvée thus becomes the expression of an unwavering pursuit of excellence, driven by their desire to pass on a unique savoir-faire and shape the future of Maison Frerejean Frères.
2005
In 2005, Guillaume and Rodolphe embarked on an ambitious project by founding their Champagne house in Avize, at the heart of the Premier and Grand Cru villages of the Côte des Blancs.
Driven by a desire to elevate this exceptional chalk terroir, they set out to craft great wines for aging, where only time reveals the depth and richness of each aroma.
In this spirit, they created their first vintage and paid tribute to their heritage by naming their flagship vintage cuvée the "Cuvée des Hussards." This Napoleonic cavalry, known for using Frerejean cannons, were also the first to saber champagne—a tradition that continues to this day within the Maison.
2011
After six years of patience and dedication, the Cuvée des Hussards 2005 was finally unveiled in 2011.
Initially intended for an intimate circle, this first cuvée exceeded all expectations, revealing extraordinary depth and elegance. Its success marked a decisive turning point, transforming this passionate endeavor into a true lifelong project.
Driven by their shared vision and an unbreakable fraternal bond, Guillaume and Rodolphe gave a new dimension to Maison Frerejean Frères.
Together, they shaped an artisanal Champagne house in their image, where time is a precious ally in revealing the terroir and crafting exceptional cuvées.
2019
In 2019, Guillaume and Rodolphe reached a new milestone in their pursuit of excellence, achieving a production of 100,000 bottles.
Each cuvée, shaped by the passage of time and unwavering patience, embodies the richness and depth of the unique Côte des Blancs terroir.
Their artisanal approach, focused on crafting champagnes with a distinctive identity and remarkable complexity, perfectly complements the most refined dishes. This perfect harmony with haute cuisine marked the beginning of a prestigious collaboration with Michelin-starred chefs, captivated by the elegance and uniqueness of their cuvées.
This close connection to the gastronomic world was solidified through a partnership with the Michelin Guide, the ultimate reference in the culinary world. First in France, and then internationally, this collaboration propelled Champagne Frerejean Frères to the pinnacle of excellence, establishing the house as a symbol in the realm of haute gastronomy.

In 2024, the house reaffirmed its deep connection and strong bond with gastronomy by becoming the official partner of Grandes Tables du Monde, an iconic institution that brings together 2- and 3-star restaurants worldwide.
2025
In 2025, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Maison, Guillaume and Rodolphe Frerejean Taittinger unveiled an exceptional cuvée made from 100% Grand Cru Blancs de Blancs.
This visionary project, initiated in 2015 to commemorate the Maison’s 10th anniversary, now brings to life a first Grand Cru cuvée of rare elegance, patiently aged for a decade. This exceptional cuvée marries the finesse of the Champagne terroir with the soul of great Burgundy wines, thanks to the use of old barrels that once housed prestigious Grand Cru Chardonnays from the renowned Corton-Charlemagne terroir.
